Working to support Wrexham residents live well with dementia.

The Dementia Friendly Wrexham Steering Group (DFWSG) consists of several volunteers, all with professional or personal experience of Dementia.
Together we have the common aim of making the whole of Wrexham county an inclusive, dementia-friendly community. We support people with dementia to have a voice and ensure that they can continue to live well and feel safe in their local communities.
We form part of the North Wales Dementia Friendly Communities Scheme which has been developed by the North Wales Regional Partnership Board.
The North Wales scheme recognises the legacy of Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friendly Communities Programme and aims to support continued recognition of businesses, community groups and individuals who are on their journey to becoming dementia-friendly.
Since the group’s formation, we have been able to offer Dementia Friends information sessions to a wide variety of organisations, set up a free-to-attend dementia-friendly art group, facilitated attendance at Love to Move training, encouraged satellite groups to be set up, as well as holding fundraising and awareness-raising events, including the annual Wrexham Memory Walk.
DFWSG meet on a regular basis and welcome enquiries from local businesses, organisations and individuals who would like to be involved in the Dementia Friendly Communities initiative.
